Volunteer Recruitment Day – Echills Wood Railway

Looking for a fun, rewarding way to get involved in your local community?
Echills Wood Railway is inviting families, students, and individuals of all ages to come along to our Volunteer Recruitment Day and discover how you can be part of our miniature railway.

Volunteering with us is a great way to learn new skills, gain practical experience, and spend time together doing something different — all while helping to run and maintain one of the area’s most popular attractions.

We’re particularly looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Guarding trains

  • Station staff and other customer-facing roles ( eg, Ticket Office)

  • Catering

  • Maintenance and practical hands-on work

  • Festive and special events, including setup/take down, operation, and welcoming visitors

No previous railway experience is needed — full training is provided, and we’re happy to help you find a role that suits your interests, abilities, and availability.

Why volunteer with Echills Wood Railway?

  • Flexible volunteering that can fit around school, college, university, and family commitments

  • A friendly, supportive environment for learning and teamwork

  • Great experience for students looking to build skills and confidence

  • Opportunities for families to get involved together

  • Be part of our popular seasonal and festive events, enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year

On the day, you’ll be able to:

  • Meet our volunteers and committee members

  • Learn about the different roles available

  • Ask questions and see what goes on behind the scenes

  • Find out how to take your first steps as a volunteer

Please book your places on either of our two 'site tour & introduction' sessions.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard at Echills Wood Railway and showing you how you can get involved.
